If you think there isn’t much to Austin besides the barbecue and Tex-Mex food, you’re wrong. And you’re probably missing out on so much! Austin is home to a variety of restaurants offering different cuisines from all over the world — including Japanese-people approved restaurants in the city, offering Japanese cuisine as authentic as can be!

In case you didn’t know yet, Austin has been crowned as the best place to live in the United States. From a TexasRealFood point of view, I genuinely believe that a factor of the city’s recognition is owed much to its thriving food scene.

Uchi

Uchi translates to “house” in English. The restaurant's name is inspired in its location in a renovated South Austin bungalow. Award-winning Chef Tyson Cole’s signature non-traditional take on Japanese food has delighted Austin’s diverse dining crowd as well as visitors from across the country and around the world since 2003.

While Uchi is prominent for being a sushi joint, there are alternatives for you if you’re not a fan of sushi. If you’re skeptical and can’t decide what to eat, you can always opt for the Omasake option, a 10-course chef’s personal selection of the most delectable, sublime tastes delivered one-by-one at your table at a leisurely pace. It would be a shame to miss Uchi especially during sake social, which basically has the same concept as a happy hour.
