Thanksgiving and Wine Festivals Around Texas Week of November 18 to 24
Leading up to Thanksgiving week, we’re seeing a lot of fun events around the state! From FREE Thanksgiving dinners to good old-fashioned potluck Thanksgiving gatherings, there’s always a good reason to be thankful around this time of year. We’re also seeing some BBQ contests, food festivals, and even a wine festival or two!
Houston BBQ Throwdown 2022!
Taste the Future of Houston Barbecue
The Houston Barbecue Festival and Saint Arnold Brewing Company announce the 6th annual Houston BBQ Throwdown! featuring 14 of Houston's best barbecue restaurants competing to create the next great barbecue dish that represents Houston-style barbecue.
Each ticket includes samples from each of the barbecue competition entries as well as Saint Arnold beer.
**To ensure the best possible experience for all guests, only a limited number of tickets will be made available for sale. Tickets sold out well in advance of the previous event - we encourage you to purchase tickets as soon as possible to ensure availability.**
**All tickets sold in advance online. No ticket sales at the door.**
Participating barbecue joints include (subject to change): Bar-A-BBQ, Brett's BBQ Shop, Daddy Duncan's BBQ, Dozier's BBQ, Firecraft BBQ (People's Choice winner from 2019), Harlem Road Texas BBQ, JQ's Tex Mex BBQ, Nomad Barbecue, Reveille BBQ, Roegels Barbecue Co, Smokin' Z's BBQ, Tejas Chocolate + BBQ, Texas Q, and The Pit Room.
Much like Kansas City-style barbecue is associated with “burnt ends” and Memphis-style is known for pork ribs, Houston-style barbecue will become known for dishes that incorporate the many diverse culinary influences of this “creole” city.
A blind judging process featuring barbecue experts from around Texas will pick a single winner from the entries. Current judges are Alison Cook, restaurant critic for the Houston Chronicle, owner/pitmaster Wayne Mueller of Louie Mueller Barbecue in Taylor, chef Michelle Wallace of Gatlin's BBQ and Gatlin's Fins & Feathers, owner/pitmaster Ronnie Killen of Killen's Barbecue, and Robert J. Lerma of Treaty Oak Distilling. There will also be a “People’s Choice” award in which guests can vote for their favorite dish.
**A very limited number of guest tickets will be sold.** $75 general admission includes Saint Arnold beer and samples of each barbecue joint’s competition dish. $130 VIP tickets also include access to the private Saint Arnold Investor’s Pub for viewing of the judge’s panel.

Friendsgiving – Free Thanksgiving Dinner
FREE Thanksgiving Dinner. Open to the Public
This is an event FREE to the public. Come in your stilettos or slippers. We will serve food until we run out!! A special THANK YOU to @AdolphsBBQ for partnering with us to cook the turkeys!
Backstory....
As a teen, Vicky found herself homeless for a bit of time. It was lonely and a very difficult time in her life. She swore that if she made it out of that rut, she would do her best to help others from feeling the things she felt being alone and hungry on a special day. Thanksgiving is a day to be thankful, not alone or hungry. This has been an ongoing tradition for us since 1999. In years passed, there have been anywhere from 3 people to 200 people showing up. This year is a little extra special to us because we get to do it at a new location: THE CHAMELEON.
Who?
The public/anyone. We don't need to know you or your story. For all we know, you are showing up to avoid doing dishes at your house lol (JK!!). This is a joyous time for us and everyone is welcome here! What we do want is for you to come to enjoy food with us. We enjoy the company!!! You don't have to do the dishes or bring anything except yourself. You can come and kick up your feet and watch football or grab a to-go box and tuck and roll out of here. Either way, we are happy you could make it out!
What?
On the menu:
Ham
Turkey
Mashed potatoes
Homemade noodles
Green Beans and Corn
Stuffing (she cheats on the stuffing so don't get too excited!)
Gravy
Sourdough bread (homemade)
Variety of pies
So you coming or what? ? We can't wait to see you all!
(SHARING IS CARING. Please share this event to spread the word. Even if you aren't able to join us, you may be helping someone get a free warm meal just by sharing this post)

The 5th Annual Corpus Christi Food and Wine Festival at Heritage Park
The fifth annual Corpus Christi Food and Wine Festival at Heritage Park features food, live music, art, festive activities, and, of course, plenty of wine.
Welcome to the Corpus Christi Wine Festival
We are so happy to have you this year at the 5th annual Corpus Christi Food & Wine Festival. we hope you enjoy a relaxing day of sipping, shopping and dining while taking in beautiful downtown Corpus Christi. This event was designed to intertwine wine tasting, shopping, food and entertainment in a relaxing atmosphere for the enjoyment of Corpus Christi residents and visitors. We hope to see the wine festival evolve into a community tradition that improves the quality of life for our citizens and generates economic activity for local businesses. The Corpus Christi Food & wine Festival was created by a group of friends who share a love for wine and a passion for giving back to the community. In its 2016 inaugural year, thanks to the generous support of our sponsors and the community, the Corpus Christi Wine Festival was able to give back to local organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Gulf Coast Humane Society and the NHI youth scholarship program. There are so many individuals and organizations that have contributed to helping make this festival possible. To each one of our sponsors, committee members, volunteers, family members, friends, vendors and community partners, we say "Thank you!. we hope you enjoy the festival and wish everyone a safe and enjoyable experience. Cheers!

Thanksgiving Dinner “Franksgiving”

We are hosting a free pot luck dinner for Veterans, single soldiers, families without families and anyone in the community who would like to join us.
The Trailer Park and our vendors will prepare the main dishes and we ask that our guest bring a side dish. The bar will be open for those who wish to enjoy an adult beverage. (No outside alcohol is permitted) We will open at 4pm and start serving about 4:30pm on Thanksgiving day. The Blockhouse in St. Hedwig has pledged to provide some Pimento Mac-n-Cheese and Butter Pecan cake.
