Urban Roots
Urban Roots uses food and farming to inspire, engage, and nourish the community. Their aim is to provide the people of Bastrop with a source of locally grown food, with 40% of their produce being donated to hunger relief organizations across the Greater Austin area. They also have a farm internship program, where they teach the young people of Austin about good food and empower them to find their voice. Countryside Farm
In 2007, Sebastien Bonneau and Esther Alvarez-Hill founded Countryside Farm. Back then, they only raised chickens, but gradually they added ducks, guinea hens, geese, rabbits, and pigs to their livestock. Impeccably fresh and high in quality, their meat is butchered and handled by Sebastien himself. On weekends, you can catch them at markets in Downtown Austin, Cedar Park, Sunset Valley, and Hope, East Austin.
