7 Fabulous Farms & Ranches in Guadalupe County

Situated northeast of San Antonio, Texas, Guadalupe County is a region that boasts numerous top-class farms and ranches. Many of these produce organic, grass-fed, and/or pasture-raised produce, meaning you are spoilt for choice when it comes to shopping for farm-fresh fruits, veggies, meat, and dairy

If you live in Guadalupe Country or are planning on visiting, then why not check out one of these seven farms and ranches that prioritize the production of fresh, wholesome food products.

Trinity Ranch

Located in Seguin, TX, Trinity Ranch grows its produce using both aquaponics and conventional cultivation methods. Owners Brady and Dawn Stanley have opened up their ranch to both retail and wholesale buyers. Yet despite the huge commercial demand, the Stanleys still manage to provide their customers with fresh produce through their farm-to-porch approach. All their vegetables are packed the night before or on the day of purchase. You can have the produce delivered straight to your front door, or you can opt to pick up your goodies at the ranch itself.

5G Farms

5G Farms in Shady Shores may be a bit of a drive for some, but their customers swear by the quality of their products. Family-owned and operated since 1990, this farm started out cultivating cotton, peanuts, pears, apricots, plums and nectarines. Eventually, they expanded their horizons even further, and started producing organic fruits, vegetables, eggs (duck, (What wine goes well with duck?) chicken and quail (What wine goes well with quail?)), and even farm-fresh dairy products. Don’t fancy making the trip? Then no fear – you can book a delivery service on their website. Just remember to add their homemade jams (how long does homemade jam last?) to your shopping list!

About four miles north of Kingsbury is Flintrock Hill Farm, a delightful farm selling pesticide-free produce. As a result, they grow veggies such as spinach, swiss chard, kohlrabi, green beans, squash, and much more. You can check out their produce at their farm stand (Fridays, 3 pm – 7 pm), at the SFC Sunset Farmers Market, or at the Cedar Park Farmers Market.

Young McDonald Farm

The Young McDonald Farm is a small family-owned poultry, dairy, and cattle farm. The majority of their cattle are of the beefmaster breed and replacement heifers. And all their cows are grass-fed the whole year-round. They also produce pastured eggs from hens that are exclusively fed on a rotational grazing system. This allows for optimal nutrient intake, resulting in fresh, delicious eggs. Young McDonald Farm also offers a bunch of homemade treats, including barbecue sauce, pickle relish, pear butter, and sauerkraut (how long does sauerkraut last?).
