Home to a multitude of female chefs, whisky connoisseurs, and winery owners, the Lone Star State has always been a hub of women’s empowerment. Whether leading creative or entrepreneurial projects, vibrant women have advanced and shaped Texas’ culture in many indelible ways. In honor of International Women's Day, here are five Women's Day events coming up in Texas that celebrate some incredible female culinary stars.

Women in Whiskey by True Texas BBQ, San Antonio

Women in Whiskey is coming to San Antonio’s True Texas BBQ, in H-E-B Market at Stone Oak. Get ready for a night of Texas spirits, dinner, and conversation led by Texas women. Here, you can expect to listen to a panel discussion with influential women in the restaurant and whiskey worlds. On this night, the spotlight will shine on award-winning Chef Tiffany Derry of Roots Southern Table and Roots Chicken Shak, Marcia Likarish of Ironroot Republic, Marsha Milam of Milam & Greene Distillery, Hope Parkerson of Garrison Brothers, Emma Kahn of Luckenbach Road Whiskey, and Samantha Salinas, the True Texas BBQ PitMistress. Indulge in a welcome cocktail, followed by a three-course meal from Roots Chicken Shak and True Texas BBQ that features chef-driven creations and innovative beverage pairings. A portion of the ticket sales will go towards Latinitas, a non-profit organization focused on empowering girls to innovate through media and technology.

Women in the Kitchen: A Tribute to Her Mentors with Virginia Willis, Austin

Learn a little about the culinary luminaries who have inspired Food Network Kitchen Chef and James Beard Award-winning Virginia Willis. Chef Willis, a recognized leader in the world of food and food media, has devised a menu that features dishes from women who have changed the way we eat and think about food in America. As Chef Willis shares her stories and shows you how to make each dish, you can sit back, relax, and enjoy a delightful menu featuring Nora Pouillon's Butternut Squash (how long does butternut squash last?) & Chevre Tart with Arugula Salad, Anne Willan's Root Vegetable Gratin with Sauce Mornay, Martha Stewart's Bourbon Creme Anglaise, and more. Uncorked Wine Tasting of Women-Owned Wine Brands

At Uncorked, a weekly casual wine event, you can enjoy a selection of top wines paired with gourmet cheeses and premium-quality cured meats (What wine goes well with cured meats?). A come-and-go wine tasting, you can arrive anytime between 7 pm and 10 pm. Come in and unwind after work, enjoy conversation with friends, or just chill out in a laid-back space with soothing music playing softly in the air. Upon arrival, your hostess will greet you and assist you with your wine selections. From there, the evening is yours to enjoy. RSVP a day in advance.

Kate Arnold Wines Paired with Small Plates, San Antonio

With grapes sourced from the finest growing locations for each varietal, Kate Arnold Wines focuses on minimal intervention winemaking to produce selections that are reflective of the region. Ainsley Wyndham, wine expert for the evening, will introduce you to these affordable, vineyard-driven wines made with grapes grown on small, family-owned farms. What’s more, Central Market Cooking School’s instructors will show you how to make each dish served during the evening. Indulge in a curated menu that features Roasted Japanese Eggplant (how long does eggplant last?) with Shiso, Black Vinegar & Dill (how long does dill last?) paired with Kate Arnold Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2020, and many other delicacies. In Pursuit of Flavor: A Tribute to Edna Lewis, Austin

This menu pays tribute to one of the greatest African-American chefs of all time. Edna Lewis is known for almost single-handedly reviving the almost forgotten art of refined Southern cooking. In an evening inspired by the pages of The Edna Lewis Cookbook, first published in 1972, you'll pick up culinary tips, watch a cooking demonstration, and sit back and enjoy your perfectly-crafted meal. For ages 18 and up. Participants who are 21 years or older can enjoy wines paired with the dishes, including Lewis’ Crisp Roasted Duck (What wine goes well with duck?) Garnished with Kumquats, Wild Rice (how long does wild rice last?) , Green Beans paired with EZYTGR Pinot Noir 2017.
