blood orange mojito

Who doesn’t love mojitos? We know we do here at TexasRealFood. And since it’s citrus season, there are plenty of farm-fresh citrus fruits available at your nearest farmers market for that perfect blood orange mojito. Yes, you read that right, a red mojito.

This awesome Texan cocktail mixes together the Texas-made Railean White Rum, blood orange juice, lime, and mint. The addition of blood oranges brings an extra citrus kick. This is both good for the palate and also an added intake of Vitamin C to this Friday week-ender cocktail.

Procedure

  1. Wet a lowball glass with running tap water and place it into the freezer. This will help cool your glass while you prepare the things you’ll need.

  2. Get a thick plastic cup [think tupperware] and a muddler. Place the lime wedges, mint leaves, and simple syrup in the cup.

  3. Muddle the ingredients inside the cup for about 30 seconds or once the mint and lime are mixed and the cup is popping with aroma.

  4. Add your Railean White Rum and the blood orange juice into the muddling cup then stir until mixed well. Then grab your lowball glass from the freezer and fill it with crushed ice.

  5. Strain the contents from the muddling glass as you pour it into the chilled lowball glass that’s filled with crushed ice.

  6. Add the orange slice, lime slice, and sprigs of mint for garnish. Enjoy!

The Blood Orange Mojito is the perfect cocktail to cap off the week if you’re looking for a boozy drink that has a strong citrus punch to it. The tart and floral blood orange is a welcome addition to the classic mojito mix. While the White Rum from the Rilean Distillers adds hints of sweet vanilla that go well with the refreshing mint and citrus.
