Some folks like to gather with friends and loved ones in the comfort of their homes, while others prefer to take part in outdoor activities hosted by local organizations and businesses. With spring in full bloom, Easter is the perfect time of the year to take advantage of the numerous community events in your area.
Here are five Texas Easter events for the whole family to enjoy. From egg hunts and pageants to live music and food festivals, there’s truly something for everyone.
The Easter Fires of Fredericksburg
As part of Fredericksburg's year-long celebration of its 175th Anniversary, The Easter Fires pageant will be held on Saturday, April 16. Known for its enduring German traditions that go back to the city’s founding in 1847, Fredericksburg will be hosting a unique celebration this Easter weekend. On holy Saturday, the night before Easter, the lights in the city will be turned off, allowing both locals and visitors to gaze at the hills surrounding Fredericksburg. In doing so, they will be treated to a delightful sight of Easter fires waving in the distance. Spectators can also enjoy traditional food and drinks during the festival.

On Easter Saturday, grab your friends and family and head to Moody Gardens for a free day of Easter egg hunts, games, and photos with the Easter bunny! This well-known amusement park will also host a delicious buffet on Easter Sunday, offering charcuterie (What wine goes well with charcuterie?) boards, cheese platters, smoked ham, and a dessert spread. Opt for the Easter Brunch (What wine goes well with brunch?) package, which includes a weekend stay, and Easter brunch for two adults and two children aged 4–12.

Search for Easter Eggs (in the dark!)
Register in advance for the Annual Snipe Hunt. Held at Lockhart State Park, this is the ninth edition of the famous Easter egg hunt, and this time it’s in the dark! Here, Easter eggs will be hidden on park trails for you to find with your flashlight. Due to high demand, this year there will be two Snipe Hunts, scheduled at 8pm and 8:30pm. This activity is suitable for kids aged 5 and above – all kids under 15 need to be accompanied by an adult.

Easter Paws Run
If you’re a pet lover, cardio fan, and fancy having an active Easter Sunday, you will enjoy Easter Paws Run at The Runners Ranch. For the past eight years, this event has attracted runners, walkers, and adorable pups! Participants pay a fee of $25 (or $30 on the “door”) to take part in this 1.75-mile run/walk. Don’t miss the awards ceremony held at the end of the event especially for the pooches. What a fine way to spend the Easter holiday!

Play for All Special Needs Easter Egg Hunt
Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a special needs Easter egg hunt this Easter Saturday, where hunters will have to look for eggs high and low! At this hunt, you can expect to find special golden eggs and win goodies and prizes. This event shall take place at the Play for All Abilities Park, which aims to provide a safe, fun play space for children of all abilities to enjoy.
