6 Best Farmers' Market In Houston You Should Visit

Whenever I visit family and friends in Houston, they always make it a point to have a small get-together. In these mini gatherings of ours, we have this tradition of adding some home-cooked food to our dinner table. These occasions are always anticipated because all of us can catch up on our personal lives while we enjoy the food that we prepare for each other.

In the typical me fashion, I tend to matter load and research each time I either fly or drive into Houston, and a great way to start my research is by keeping in touch with the vendors at what was once my usual farmers market haunts. Houston, like many other urban hubs in Texas, boasts a wide variety of Farmers Markets but not all are equal. In my many adventures into H-Town, I’ve narrowed down my own picks of Farmers Markets that offer a good variety of vegetables, meats, and some healthy snacking in-between.

Here are my 6 best farmers market in Houston, Texas

  1. Urban Harvest Farmers Markets

The Urban Harvest is one of my top picks when it comes to Farmers Markets in Houston who actively support local farmers around the area. Established back in 2004,  this once quaint farmers market provides support to over 100 farmers within the greater Houston area. You will find that there are numerous stalls to go through and, you’ve been warned, you will totally be tempted to splurge on their fine selections of meats, produce, and prepared food that’s sure to be the envy of every weekly meal-prepper.

2. The Houston Farmers Market

Time is gold and with the Houston Farmers Market, you can totally have a great time with family and also shop for your weekly meal prep spices. Located at the historic Airline Drive in Houston, this market offers a good mix of wide selections of herbs and treats that will be the delight of each kid you tug along. The crowning jewel of each visit at the Houston Farmers Market is the Tex-Mex snacks offered at the stalls. Locals swear by the Mango Con Chile and, for me, this makes it one of the best farmers markets in Houston.

3. East End Farmers Market

If you’re into listening to some good music while perusing fresh produce that’s been sourced from all over the greater Houston area, then the East End Farmers Market is a good place to start. For me, this farmer's market stood out because each time I drop by there’s a new rotation of vendors. This makes it, by far, the market with the widest variety when it comes to kitchen buddies who are prone to inspired split-second changes to their planned weekly meal prep.

6. Eleanora’s Market

Considered by local regulars as one of the, if not, the best farmer's market in Houston, Eleanor’s Market is everything a farmers’ market should be. This market consistently has the freshest and locally sourced meats with prices that are hard to beat with other market options in Houston. The food selection is what really caught my attention since they offer Argentinian, Mexican, and Indian food (What wine goes well with Indian food?) that had me full till the next morning. Another highlight of this market is the great offerings of cheeses available that go well with any grazing tray you have planned for the night. To top everything off, Eleanora’s is quite accessible because of the convenient parking space right next to the market itself.
