San Antonio’s ‘Always Fresh’ Juice Bar

What makes a juice, a good one? Or how is fresh juice made by me any better than fresh juice made by you? Ask Robert Baughn, owner of Farm to Juice, and he’ll tell you exactly what the difference is. After 20 years of being in the Hotel Management industry and focusing on the importance of a healthy lifestyle, Robert started his family business of fresh, raw and cold pressed fruit juices, smoothies and more!

Nestled on Stone Oak Parkway, Farm to Juice is a quaint and colorful bar that has been serving juice to San Antonians since 2013.

What is Farm To Juice?

So, what is it that makes juices here stand apart from the others in the city? For starters, Farm to Juice utilizes two industrial cold presses, that pump out fresh juices (how long do fresh juices last?) upwards of 60 gallons per hour! The cold press ensures that there is no heat created during this process. The absence of heat helps retain all the plant nutrition.

Their locally sourced produce is first ground and then passed through the hydraulic cold press. Almost all of the pulp is pressed away. This means there is less oxygen in the resulting juice. Pulp contains air and if it is left in the juice, the juice oxidizes faster. No-pulp gives you more nutritionally dense juice that lasts longer.

Farm to juice assures you that there are no additives in their products. Yes, that means no sweeteners, synthetic colors or flavorings. Just 100% fresh and raw juice!

Flavors

Their loyal customers swear by the Krazy Kale, a delightful combination of apples, kale, strawberries, grapes, spinach and red cabbage! Who would've thought to add red cabbage in a juice!

Other juices make use of pineapple, lemon, cucumber, beets, parsley, turmeric, celery, green apple, grapefruit, carrots and more in delightful combinations.

You will find some unique smoothies with almond and coconut milk as base. The ‘Fred and Vickie’ brings together banana, agave, spinach, mango and coconut milk in a rich and tart smoothie.

Farm to Juice also offers acai bowls with several fresh and flavorful toppings such as the ‘Elvis Forever’ that gives you banana, chia seeds (how long do chia seeds last?), peanut butter (how long does peanut butter last?), granola (how long does granola last?) and blueberries.

Business in COVID-19

When you visit Farm to Juice, you will most likely find Robert in the store, welcoming you warmly. “How has the COVID-19 pandemic affected business?”, I ask him. Robert tells me that walk-in customers have overall declined, but there has been an increase in people ordering juice cleanses.

“What's a juice cleanse?”, I inquire. "Well it is a type of a diet where you have only fruit and vegetable juices spaced at intervals throughout the day aimed at weight loss and a full body detox."

Ahh, looks like am going to have to try this cleanse. Robert takes me through the different juice cleanses that is available on the menu. They have the three-day cleanse, five-day, seven-day and 10-day juice cleanse packages in which you get a set number of juices daily. Juice cleanses are great for eliminating waste from our body and giving it a kick start at better immunity. Just make sure to take it slow so you were able to gauge your body's reaction towards it.

For those of you who want to try it, go ahead and place your order now, the store may not be open for walk-in customers, but Farm to Juice delivery will make sure you get freshly pressed juice at your door step!

To show their gratitude for the front liners in the health field during this tough time, Farm to Juice is happy to give 10% off on juices, smoothies and acai bowls to all medical workers.
