It’s often said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. This is true but it’s also the meal that no one thinks about too much and doesn’t plan for in advance. However, there are ways to still have healthy breakfast but to make it quickly in a matter of ten minutes.

These meals are easy but they provide you and your family what you need. However, it’s still important to be prepared in terms of having the groceries that you need and that you know what you’ll cook the next day.

Peach Cobbler Oatmeal

This is easy and delicious meal to make and it won’t take you longer than 10 minutes to finish it. Peach season is still at its peak and that means you’ll get to make it with fresh and seasonal ingredients found at the local market.

Poached Eggs And Avocado Toast

Avocado toast is what everyone is making these days but it’s still a bit of hipster meal and when it’s combined with poached eggs it becomes a more filling meal and also a more common one. Adding parmesan and fresh herbs (how long do fresh herbs last?) will make it a more complete dish.

This is the simplest of dishes to make and there’s no secret to it but making sure that avocados are ripe and that eggs are poached just the right amount of time. If it’s done right it won’t take more than seven to ten minutes to finish the whole meal from start to end.

Cheddar-Garlic Grits With Fried Eggs

This is a popular breakfast dish in Texas and in the South as a whole. Depending on the amount of cheese you use, you get to choose how much of a calorie bomb your breakfast will be.

  • In a small saucepan over high heat, bring the water to a rolling boil.

  • Reduce heat to medium, stir in the grits (how long do grits last?) and garlic, and cover. Continue cooking and stirring often for 5-7 minutes or until the grits have thickened.

  • Remove from the heat, stir in the cheddar and chives (how long do chives last?) until combined. Add salt and pepper to your taste. Set aside.

  • While the grits are cooking, heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Spray with non-stick cooking spray or add a pat of butter to the pan.

  • Crack the eggs into the pan (depending on the size of your pan, you may need to cook the eggs in batches) and cook over medium low heat until the thick whites surrounding the yolk begin to turn opaque. Carefully flip the egg over and continue cooking until the yolk has cooked to your satisfaction.

  • Pour the grits into two shallow bowls. Top each bowl with two eggs and more salt and pepper.

Hot Quinoa Cereal

This is the quickest breakfast to make on our list. It can be done in five minutes even for those that aren’t that skilled in the kitchen. It’s also healthy and provides you with enough energy to start your day. It can also be made with water like any other cereal but milk adds a little something.

The toppings can include:

Scrambled Tofu

Tofu (how long does tofu last?) isn’t usually seen as an exciting meal but when it’s scrambled and prepared properly it can become a great way to start a day and anything but boring. It’s a perfect vegan meal and a great substitute for eggs as long as other ingredients are used to add flavor and interest.

  • In a small bowl, mix together nutritonal yeast, turmeric, cumin, paprika, water, salt, and pepper. Set aside.

  • Mist a frying pan with olive oil and place it over medium heat. Once hot, add scallion and garlic, and saute until fragrant, about 2 minutes.

  • Crumble tofu into the pan, breaking it up with your fingers. Pour seasoning over tofu and mix well, trying to color as much tofu as possible. Cook for 2 minutes or until tofu is hot throughout.

  • Toss in parsley and continue to stir for another 1 to 2 minutes.

  • Once cooked, serve with favorite sides and toppings, such as sliced avocado, whole-grain crackers or toast, sliced tomato, bacon (regular or meat-free), salsa, and/or hot sauce (how long does hot sauce last?).
