Homemade Banana Pudding
Discover > Texas Recipes > Homemade Banana Pudding
Banana pudding is one of those classic Southern desserts that everyone seems to love, but always buys either pre-made or in powdered Jello form. This recipe will show you how to make it using fresh ingredients like real bananas (how long do bananas last?), fresh milk, and (optionally) some yellow food coloring to give it that colorful zing.
There are two additions that spring to mind when you think of banana pudding: vanilla wafers (how long do vanilla wafers last?) (or iconic Nilla’ Wafers) and whipped cream. Whipped cream adds much-needed aerated lightness to an otherwise heavy dish. You can make both whipped cream and wafers from scratch, although no one would blame you if you didn’t (and we won’t tell).
