Summer brings with it long, hot days. And what better way to unwind after a long day, than a glass of margarita? While immensely popular all throughout the year, the margarita is truly the spirit of summers. Tangy, punchy, and refreshingly cool, it makes hot days a little more bearable and warm nights a bit more fun.

The simplicity of this drink also offers endless possibilities for customization. And while I’m all for different fruity, syrupy, and spicy concoctions, my go-to favorite remains the classic margarita, with tequila, lime, and orange liqueur. Occasionally, I also like adding a dash of simple syrup for a subtle hint of sweetness that pairs well with the tart lime and tequila flavor. But if you want a drier, punchier drink, ditch the syrup. With margaritas, personal preference is key. It can be as simple or complex as you like, and that’s the high of it.

This year, June 21st marks the summer solstice. So, whip yourself a glass of this classic margarita today, because it’s going to be a long day.

Make Margarita

In a blender add tequila, orange liqueur, and simple syrup. Squeeze in half a lime and add 6 to 7 cubes of ice. Blend for 10 to 15 seconds. Or alternatively, add all the ingredients in a shaker and shake vigorously for 15 to 20 seconds. Strain into prepared glass.

Top off with a lime wheel and serve as it is, or - if the weather's especially hot- add a few more cubes of ice, and serve on the rocks.

I always prefer buying blender, shaker, and strainer online because of the added convenience!
