For The Love Of Coffee! Celebrating National Coffee Day With Local Texas Roasteries

Discover > Best Of Texas > For The Love Of Coffee! Celebrating National Coffee Day With Local Texas Roasteries

We love coffee. And what’s not to love? Coffee perks up our mornings, tastes heavenly, and even has its share of health benefits.

It’s no wonder so many people associate mornings with the smell of fresh coffee brewing or a quick stopover at the nearby coffee shop on their way to work.

More than half of the total adult population in the U.S. consumes coffee daily. That makes up over 150 million daily consumers, and approximately thirty million American adults drink customized coffee beverages such as mocha, latte, espresso, café mocha, cappuccino, frozen/iced coffee beverages, etc.

Even with the entire country in various stages of lockdown and footfall in coffee shops down massively this year, coffee continued to be America’s undisputed favorite beverage. Staying indoors, many of us even tried our hands at whipping several concoctions of this lush and beautiful beverage: the contentious dalgona coffee being a perfect example.

Specialty Coffee in Texas

A decade ago, Texas had a slow-moving coffee culture. Similar to the craft wine and beer industries, specialty coffee in Texas is now starting to stand out.

According to the Specialty Coffee Association of America, SCAA, specialty coffee is defined as,

“The highest quality green coffee beans (how long do coffee beans last?) roasted to their best flavor potential by true craftspeople and then suitably brewed to well-established SCAA developed standards.”

Experts grade specialty coffee for its smells and tastes. The coffee must receive a mark of 80+ in a cupping session to be regarded as a specialty grade.

Only 3% of all coffee grown on this planet falls under the specialty category. The coffee bean itself is grown in ideal environments, processed, and roasted using the best available methods to allow its unique features to shine.
