Super Seafood at These 6 Coastal Bend Restos
Discover > Best Of Texas > Super Seafood at These 6 Coastal Bend Restos
There’s nothing quite like savoring the delightful flavors of a perfectly cooked fish dish while feeling the cool ocean breeze on your face. Luckily for us, there are a number of wonderful seafood (What wine goes well with seafood?) restaurants that dot the Texas Coastal Bend. At these six eateries, you can expect fresh seafood fare coupled with feel-good vibes – here’s what you need to know about these spots before planning your trip.
Blackbeard’s on the Beach
As the name suggests, Blackbeard’s on the Beach is a pirate-themed restaurant. However, what is perhaps less expected is that the owners claim the food stop is one of the most haunted places in Corpus Christi! The resto’s purple building stands on North Beach and was built back in the 1950s, making it quite the historical landmark. Thinking of heading along? Then you have to try their award-winning seared tuna (What wine goes well with tuna?), best-selling Baja tacos, or – if neither of those do it for you! – one of their juicy steaks. Blackbeard’s bar is stocked with some top-notch whiskies, and their mojitos are simply delicious.
Great food, live music, pirates, and perhaps a ghost or two are what you can expect from Blackbeard’s on the Beach.

The Spot
The Spot is an up-and-coming dining hub in the Galveston area. This restaurant caters to a variety of tastes and preferences. A must-try on their menu is Uncle Bill's Famous Shrimp (What wine goes well with shrimp?) Po-Boy, featuring fried Gulf shrimp served in a homemade po-boy bun, topped with spicy remoulade, lettuce, and tomatoes. Make sure to order a bucket of beer alongside your dish, or (if you’re not into the hard stuff) a handspun chocolate and peanut butter (how long does peanut butter last?) milkshake!
The Spot is a family-friendly restaurant that will tickle your tastebuds.

Republic of Texas Bar & Grill
Situated on the 20th floor of the Omni Hotel, Republic of Texas Bar & Grill is an elegant fine-dining restaurant that offers fabulous views of the Corpus Christi Bay Area. It’s safe to say the quality of food is second to none. Fresh seafood, wild game, and plenty of succulent meat are what await diners at this award-winning restaurant. My favorite dish is their wild-caught salmon, served with asparagus, Creole mustard, and dill (how long does dill last?)hollandaise. Have room for dessert? Then order a slice of their carrot cake – it’s a no-brainer!
At Republic of Texas Bar & Grill, you can enjoy excellent food, top-class service, and panoramic views of the Corpus Christi Bay Area.

Paradise Key Dockside Bar & Grill (Rockport)
This hidden gem on the Texas Coastal Bend offers brilliant scenes of nature paired with the finest seafood. Munch on their Paradise Fried Platter, which comes with mahi-mahi, jumbo grilled shrimps, and fried oysters (What wine goes well with oysters?), all served with a side of house-made chips and tropical coleslaw. If you fancy something a little lighter, they also serve an array of “Marina Munchies”, such as their crispy shrimp wraps, sesame tuna, and crab (how long does crab last?) tower.
If you’re up for a bit of al fresco dining, Paradise Key Dockside Bar & Grill is the place to be.

Louie’s Backyard
South Padre Island is home to Louie’s Backyard, a fine-dining destination that offers both indoor comfort and sunset views on their outdoor patio. Their menu is packed with hand-cut steaks, peel-and-eat shrimp, fresh fish, and more. Feeling hungry? This restaurant hosts an all-you-can-eat prime rib and seafood buffet! A spot for enjoying some live music, this venue not only serves up quality food but also brilliant entertainment.
Louie’s Backyard feeds the bellies and fills the hearts of South Padre Island locals and visitors alike.

Gaido’s
If you’re heading to the Coastal Bend, you just have to try out Gaido’s. First opened back in 1911, this Galveston icon is located right out on the sea wall. Gaido’s serves cuisine influenced by a range of places and practices – from traditional deep frying to Southwest open-flame grilling and Creole flavors. All their recipes are time-tested favorites that are made in-house, including their sauces, seasonings, and dressings. Tuck into their Blackened Yellowfin Tuna, dusted in Cajun seasoning and seared to perfection on a cast-iron skillet. Yum!
Providing delicious menu items for over a century, Gaido’s is a seafood restaurant that knows what it’s doing.
