Waking up the morning after New Year’s Eve, I found myself looking at the clock as I tried to assess the scope of the nagging hangover of that oh-so decadent cask-strength Bourbon Whiskey I downed the previous night. I checked my notes for any drunken pieces of ideas that I wrote down for the occasion. Predictably, I had one down where my inebriated self jotted down a workable proposition for the New Year and that is to eat healthily. I was not probably talking about steak salads but I guess it is time for a more balanced approach when it came to my nutrition.
This brought me into a 2-week meal prep plan where I am going to primarily source all my ingredients at 5 Texas Farm to Table Farmers Markets around my work areas of assignments within Texas. In my line of work, I’m pretty much here and there so I’m going to have to expect shopping at different Texas farmers markets. This arrangement of mine offers a wide variety of dishes that I can cook and get to be part of the community experience when it comes to being a consumer through buying locally sourced produce, and other food items.
Here are the 5 Texas farm-to-table markets that I found to be perfect complements to my New Year diet resolutions
Coppell Farmers Market
First stop, Dallas, and where better to shop than at Coppell Farmers Market. This particular farmers market is a quaint market with friendly vendors that will give you that homey feel. Whenever you are in the market, you will find that there is always a good variety of locally sourced and organic produce. The last time I was there, I was astounded at the variety of raw food and homemade food items available at each stall that any vegan meal-prepper would feel right at home. However, as for me, I just had to grab some pasture-grown meats for my planned beef and broccoli in oyster sauce, some honey for my sweet tooth of a wife, and some plants to bring a bit of greenery to our home.
Variety and some new friends from Coppell await you if you are planning to shop at Coppell Farmers Market.
