The Cove

The Cove is a family-friendly restaurant conveniently located slightly north of downtown San Antonio. They’re passionate about "SOL" - sustainable, organic, local ingredients - incorporating them in all their meals.  There’s an awesome outdoor playground for kids to enjoy and the outdoor lighting also makes it a good place for a date. There’s ample seating, so it’s good for large groups and for any occasion. The tortillas are made with non-GMO corn. All the tacos here are incredibly fresh and delicious but the fish tacos are the best in town.  It comes with grilled tilapia, cilantro coleslaw, and spicy Poblano sauce. They have vegetarian options as well.

Sangria on the Burg

Sangria on the Burg is a craft house restaurant situated on Fredericksburg Rd in the Medical Center area. It’s small but spacious with an indoor and outdoor area that gives it a bustling atmosphere.  The place is celebrated for its intoxicating sangrias, margaritas, tacos, and BBQ. Each meal served here is made with organic and locally-sourced ingredients whenever possible. The tortillas are hand made and served with a choice of house salad, grilled veggies, and french fries or a cup of fideo. The ‘Smoked Brisket’ tacos consist of two tacos with pasilla onion strings and BBQ sauce. Pharm Table is a chef-driven, anti-inflammatory restaurant that only incorporates organic, local, gluten-free ingredients in their recipes. It’s located downtown, outside of the tourist district. The Rustic restaurant is conveniently situated at The Rim shopping center on La Cantera. It’s a massive establishment and half of it is open-air with great seating options available inside and outside. There’s usually live music playing. They serve delicious, homestyle meals prepared with farm-fresh local ingredients. The tacos are served in large portions, family-style – perfect for sharing. There is also the option of ‘Lunch Tacos,’ which is for one person and served Monday-Friday between 11 am and 3 pm. The Hoppy Monk is a cheerful bar situated on the north side of San Antonio. They serve home-style, upscale pub food made from locally-sourced ingredients. The Executive Chef, John Herman, uses traditional, locally-sourced Texas ingredients. The corn tortillas are great and the toppings are tasty. The chef knows how to let the flavors of the fresh, locally-sourced ingredients shine. The presentation of the food at Sustenio is also beautiful.
