Discover > Farm to Table Eating in Texas > 6 Best Farmers Market In Dallas For Fresh Produce
In my life as our unofficial family cook, I’ve gone on countless trips to grocery stores and farmer's markets and find that most stores offer goods that have either been imported from other states or even abroad. This reality did not and still doesn’t sit well with me since I believe that communities within the Dallas area should be supporting each other especially now that we are all entering the recovery phase of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Because of this, I started out talking to vendors in farmer's markets, and, through these conversations, I got to know more about which markets prioritize locally sourced meats and produce around Dallas. Good conversation coupled with some tasty snacking here and there has given me insight into the realities that farmers in Dallas face daily. To help support farmers across Dallas, be sure to check out these 6 Dallas farmer's markets.

This market is filled with a wide variety of local sources of seasonal vegetables to choose from. This variety of products is great for people who are prepping vegan-centered meals for their week. 2. Richardson Farmers Market
Richardson Farmers Market stood out to me as a great hub for both budding and seasoned entrepreneurs involved in the local agricultural sector of Dallas. This is because the market provides a good platform for developing the local economy and, at the same time, educating consumers on buying and consuming foods. With a network spanning over 2,700 farmers, ranchers, and artisans, the variety of locally sourced organic meats and vegetables is assured.

3. Dallas Farmers Market
Boasting an upscaled version of your typical farmer's market, the Dallas Farmers Market easily makes it to one of the best farmer's markets in Dallas. The whole market is divided into two parts. The shed is your traditional setup of an open-air market where different vendors sell their locally sourced produce, meats, honey, and even pastries. There is also the indoor market where everything is climate controlled for the convenience of every shopper. This market is open every day of the week but you should check it out during the weekends. The atmosphere of this market during weekends feels festive and the multiple stalls outside selling food are great places to spend your post-produce shopping weekends with friends and family.

5. Saint Michael’s Farmers Market
The Saint Michael’s Farmers Market is a non-profit community outreach ministry of the Saint Michael’s and All Angels Episcopal Church. It provides an outlet where local farmers around the Northern Dallas area can sell their organically grown produce, meats, and fruits. Apart from checking off your weekly meal prep checklist, this farmer's market also boasts a quaint but satisfying take on the flavors of the local community. I swear by the scones that I got to try from the Village Bakery. It’s probably the best I’ve ever tried in the whole Lonestar State.

6. Sweet Harvest
Located just across the Dallas Farmers Market, you can easily spot the unmistakable red shed with a big white sign upfront. Sweet Harvest was established back in 2015 by a group of four vendors who were affected by the downsizing of the nearby Dallas Farmers Market. By putting up this quaint but iconic farmer's market, the four vendors have now established themselves as one of Dallas’ go-to-market for locally sourced seasonal produce, nuts (how long do nuts last?), plants, and fresh fruits. And if you’re a bit of a farmer's market gobbler then you can check out the salsas and pies on sale. Then wash it all down with a healthy serving of juice from the juice bar.
