Texas is a place known for its mouthwatering cuisine and exciting live events, and nothing highlights these strengths more concisely than the many annual food festivals to be found throughout the state. As summer sets in and warm weather brings a host of fresh local produce, June is the perfect time to sample all the Texan festival circuit has to offer. 

Annual Watermelon Jubilee

  • When: June 16-18, 2022

  • Where: Stockdale, Texas

Established in 1937, the Stockdale Watermelon Jubilee is one of the state’s oldest and most beloved festivals. This year’s edition will include events such as the Ranch Rodeo, a county-wide team roping exhibition, down-home country music concerts, and all the refreshing watermelon you can eat. 

61st Annual Stonewall Peach JAMboree and Rodeo 

  • When: June 16-18, 2022

  • Where: Stonewall, Texas

This yearly celebration returns for 2022 to celebrate the Texan peach harvest, offering a rodeo alongside bull riding, live music, auctions, a grand parade and more. Peach delicacies will include favorites such as peach ice cream, peach cobbler, and fresh homegrown peaches to enjoy in the comfort of home. 

Dallas Rotary Wine & Brew Festival 

  • When: June 25th, 2022

  • Where: Dallas, Texas

Located at the Luzerne County Fairgrounds, the Dallas Rotary Wine & Brew Festival is a community-oriented celebration focused on high-quality local wines, food, and Texan crafts. New for 2022 is the festival’s mini-bus shuttle service, provided for guest convenience by Davis Transportation.

Luling Watermelon Thump 

  • When: June 23-26th, 2022

  • Where: Luling, Texas

The Luling Watermelon Thump specializes in melon-growing and eating contests, providing an essential summer experience for festival attendees. Additional events include live music, a carnival midway, craft vendors, a car show, and more. The Champion Watermelon award is given to the largest Black Diamond watermelon on show, according to rules set in place by the local grower’s association. Top entries in the watermelon contest are sold at a special auction, with proceeds going to support local community scholarships. 5th Annual Fishin’ Fiesta

  • When: June 30th-July 2nd, 2022

  • Where: Freeport, Texas

Located in the lovely Freeport Municipal Park, the 75th, Annual Fishin’ Fiesta has been a popular local tradition since 1947. Sponsored by the Lions’ Club, the event includes a fishing tournament, cook-off, showcase of craft and food vendors, and a grand finale firework show. The Fishin’ Fiesta hosts one of the largest competitive fishing tournaments in the gulf, offering prices for both inshore and offshore categories.
